The nature, life, and art history of Sitia through the eyes of young engravers
✳︎ The engraving workshop, held at the Sitia Folklore Museum from November to June, presents its final exhibition with original works inspired by the nature, daily life, and artistic history of Sitia.
The workshop participants gained in-depth knowledge of the art of engraving and developed personal interpretations of the concept of “cultural heritage” through a contemporary lens.
The exhibition includes works by seven participants and the workshop coordinator, Antonia Dretaki.
The theme was developed through museum visits, outdoor lessons, and discussions about the artistic identity of the region.
With respect for the past and an eye on the present, the works presented constitute an artistic narrative about what it means to create with your homeland as a starting point.
