1st Pan-Cretan Student Literary Competition 2021-2022

The Vitsentzos Kornaros Shelter, based in Sitia, Crete, the homeland of Vitsentzos Kornaros, aiming, among other things, to study and promote the poet’s work, announces the 1st Pan-Cretan Student Competition for the academic year 2021-2022 in the categories: POETRY and SHORT STORY.

Vitsentzos Kornaros’s Erotokritos, an emblematic work of the Cretan Renaissance and an integral part of the European poetic tradition, continues to be a source of inspiration and creation to this day.

Friendship, prudence, trust, fraternal devotion, love, commitment to the idea of self-determination, the concept of honor and personal dignity, and passion are some of the themes that harmoniously intertwine in Erotokritos and compose the spirit and style of the Renaissance era.

This year’s competition theme focuses on the power of love.
