The first meeting took place on December 5 at the Vitsentzos Kornaros Cultural Center, when thirty first-year students from EL.ME.PA responded to our invitation to participate in the competition.
At the beginning of the meeting, the students were welcomed to Sitia by Mayor George Zervakis, followed by the department chair, Dr. Anastasia Markaki, who praised the initiative and emphasized the importance of the collaboration between Stegi and EL.ME.PA. of Sitia.
Next, Ms. Sophia Fousteri, a literature scholar, gave a detailed presentation on the work Erotokritos and the poet Vitsentzos Kornaros, so that the students could be smoothly introduced to the era and the work.
The event concluded with the presentation of a copy of Erotokritos to all the students. Throughout the year, the students had the opportunity to study the book.
On Friday, June 9, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., the 1st written student competition on Erotokritos was held in the amphitheater of the Hellenic Mediterranean University.
Contest results
The winners of the contest were the following students:
- Ariana Gemenitzi,
- Martha Pirpiri and
- Eleni Christofi
who, due to a tie, each received 200 euros, along with a certificate of participation.
The award ceremony took place in the amphitheater of the Hellenic Mediterranean University and was presided over by Dr. Anastasia Markaki, chair of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the co-founders of Stegi, Aliki and Giorgos Galanakis.
