From Apeirogon to Murakami
The first autumn reading meeting of the VITSENTZOS KORNAROS Shelter Reading Club took place on Sunday, September 13, 2026. The subject of discussion was the novel “Apeirogon” by Colum McCann, Kastaniotis Publications.
Bassam is Palestinian and Rami is Israeli. Two tragic incidents, related to their daughters, mark them forever. This shared experience will unite them for a higher purpose. Their grief becomes a weapon for peace. They manage to overcome their differences, narrating their stories again and again before an audience. They believe that if they managed to overcome their differences, the same could happen to others.
Drawing elements from nature, art, history, and politics, the author composes a heartbreaking and hopeful novel. A multifaceted novel that sparked a very fruitful discussion.
The next meeting is scheduled for October 18, featuring Haruki Murakami’s work, “South of the Border, West of the Sun,” Psychogios Publications.
