ADULT READING CLUB
The last reading meeting of 2025 for the VITSENTZOS KORNAROS Shelter Reading Club took place on Sunday, December 7. The subject of discussion was “The Gambler” by Fyodor Dostoevsky (translated by Athina Sarantidi, Govostis Publications). Initially, biographical information about the author and the circumstances under which the specific work was written were read. A discussion followed concerning the author’s style, the content of the work, the atmosphere of the era in which it is set, and the addiction and passion that become dominant elements and determine people’s lives. A very interesting discussion that opened windows to many other topics, characteristic of classical literature.
The next meeting was scheduled for January 18, 2026, with “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man,” a work by the same author.
The members of the Reading Club wholeheartedly wish you Happy Holidays!!!
