Reissue of Kostis Fragoulis' Poetry Collection
His poetry collection Ta DIFORA Book Two was published in Heraklion in 1988, republished in 1997, and in February 2025, the third edition was published by Stegi VITSENTZOS KORNAROS.
KOSTIS FRAGKOUIS, also known as Antaios, was born in Lastro, Sitia, on November 7, 1905, and died in Heraklion on February 11, 2005. He was a Greek mantinadologist, poet, prose writer, chronicler, and typographer. He was a folk writer who wrote in the dialect of eastern Crete. He was awarded first prize by the Academy of Athens for his two-volume poetic work “TA DIFORA”.
His first collection of poetry, entitled “Open Wings,” was published in 1930. It would be 31 years before he published his second collection of poetry, Ta Difora (Heraklion, 1961). It was republished in 1991, and in 2021, the third edition was published by Stegi Vitsentzou Kornaros, which included a foreword by Menelaos Parlamas and a note by Rea Galanaki. At its presentation in Heraklion on July 14, 2021, the keynote speaker was his unforgettable friend and colleague in journalism and literature, Nikos Psilakis.
Kostis Fragoulis has also written the short story collections “In the Circle of the Knife” (1971), “The Katsifara” (1974), “Angry Ears of Corn” (1980), “The Russian Bell” (1982), and the novel “The Matchmaking of Polydoros” (2000).
