I was born on January 18, 1936, in Sitia, Crete. I am of Armenian descent. My father was from Pergamon and my mother from Eskişehir. They left Asia Minor in 1922 and a year later found themselves in Sitia.
I spent my last years of high school in Athens. It was there that I first came into contact with photography, which fascinated and captivated me. So in 1955, with the first money I had saved, I bought a good camera...
